After the proposed development of 230 garages above and below street level in the site currently occupied by the playing fields at John Borg Str. fell through, after protests by residents and the council, the process has now moved a step ahead. The Director of Lands has officially accepted the call made by the local council for the playing field to be taken over by the council. This would mean that the open space in consideration can be taken care of better and hopefully remain free of the threat of development by unscruplous developers. The agreement was signed on the 23rd of February, in the presence of minister Tonio Borg.
Open spaces need to be protected. This was indeed a step in the right direction
