Youth Empowerment Centre

The Youth Empowerment Centre was set up on the initiative of the Birkirkara Local Council with the collaboration of the Parliamentary Secretariat within the Ministry of Education responsible for Youth and Sport.
The Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Eddie Fenech Adami, inaugurated the centre on the 29th February 2000. Also present for the Inauguration were the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sport the Hon. Jesmond Mugliett, the Major of Birkirkara Mr. Tonio Fenech and other local council members.

The main objective of the centre is to create opportunities at Birkirkara which encourage young persons to achieve their full potential. Young persons should be empowered through participation. However, there is no empowerment without knowledge and Information. The centre therefore, should provide young persons with information required to empower them in becoming more employable through furthering their academic and technical skills and increase their awareness of job opportunities.

Other aims of the center are

Organize seminars and discussions on subjects that interest youths.

Assist youths within the locality to establish new groups, committees and organizations, by providing support, facilities and assistance.

Provide and assist in the creation of Foreign Youth Exchanges.
